Accompanist & Recording Your Lesson:
I play the piano and accompany lessons, but I am not a professional pianist. If you would like to hire a studio pianist for your lesson, please let me know and I will work with you to find someone. If you are working on a project that has pre-recorded accompaniment, please email an mp3 of the music to me at least four hours before your lesson so I can prepare.
My studio is equipped with recording equipment, and lessons and coaching sessions will be recorded. Students may bring a memory stick with them to their session or the recording will be available for 4 weeks in my studio management system.
Studio Location: I teach from my home studio in Boylston, MA. Please use the front door for entry. I currently do not have a waiting area. Please try not to be more than 5 minutes early for your lesson. While I have small seating area within the studio, I prefer to work with students alone. Parents, please drop off your child student(s) if at all possible. Park in the driveway or in front of the house on the road. Do not block the mailboxes.
$60/hr (Standard rate)
Lesson lengths are 35 minute (for younger children), 45 minutes, and 1 hour.
Bi-Weekly Students & One-off Coaching: For engagements of 6 weeks or less, price will be negotiated up front and will be due at the first lesson. Bi-weekly arrangements are made on a case-by-case basis as my schedule allows.
Payments can be made via check (made out to Christina White), cash, or through my website. Please bring the exact amount if you opt for cash as I do not have change.
If I am doing a good job, please spread the word! If you refer a new student to me and they decide to hire me as their voice teacher, you will receive a free lesson after their fourth paid lesson or after I receive a month’s deposit.
Reschedules & Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations made less than 48 hours in advance of your lesson will be subject to the normal lesson fee. If you pay by the week, you will be expected to pay for 2 weeks at your next lesson.
You may schedule a make-up lesson to use this credit. You will have 14 days to schedule your make-up lesson or the credit will be forfeited. Students who miss their lesson with no notification to me will owe the lesson fee, but are not entitled to a make-up. I do make exceptions for emergencies as long as you notify me. Conflicts with other interests/ activities or appointments and transportation issues are not considered emergencies.
I have implemented an online scheduling system at my website. Cancellations and reschedules made outside of the 48 hour window can be made through there. Within 48 hours, please contact me after referring to the website to pick an available time for reschedule.
Please cancel if you have a fever (or had one in the previous 24 hours), have an upset stomach, and/or have a sore throat/laryngitis. If you have an upcoming performance or audition and absolutely must have a lesson, I will do my best to reschedule or we can arrange an online lesson.
Please note that I keep track of all absences. If you have more than 3 unpaid absences, I will require that you pre-pay for future lessons.
During the academic year (September – June), two missed lessons in a row may result in you losing your lesson slot unless otherwise arranged with me ahead of time. Students who take time off from lessons for sports or other activities will be given preference on my waitlist for 4 months from the time of their last lesson if a slot is not available upon their return.
Please make every attempt to be on time for your lesson so you get full advantage of our time together.
Studio students: If you are running more than 5 minutes late, please call or text me. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you may be asked to schedule a make-up lesson. If you are the last lesson of the day or before my scheduled break, I may leave after waiting 15 minutes.
Online students: If you are running more than 5 minutes late, please call or text me. I will leave the virtual studio room open for 10 minutes and then shut it down. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be asked to schedule a make-up lesson.
Every week bring with you:
- Your music.
- Your manuscript paper with your vocalises.
- A bottle of water.
- A sense of humor and a willingness to try.
When a song is assigned, you will be allowed to sign the music book out for the week so that you may begin working on it while you obtain a copy of the song and/or book. Please do not mark in the book. If the book is not returned the following week, you will be charged a $5/week late fee. Books may be bought from Amazon (new and used) and Abebooks.com (used). MusicNotes.com has individual songs available, however, please make sure that it's the same key/edition as what's in the book.
I keep track of the books that you own and will endeavor to work from them as much as possible.
While I completely understand that we all get busy from time-to-time, I expect my students to make an effort to practice at least 15 minutes daily.
